If you are shopping around for an online merchandising solution, ask the sales representative two questions. First, ask, "Who's software are you using?" They will probably answer with the name of a plug-in, 3rd party company that sold the cart software to them. Our answer is that we wrote the software and we own the software. Now ask if they can accomodate a custom request, like giving a 10% discount to customers over the age of 55. Their answer will most likely be "no." That is because they do NOT own the software and therefore they cannot modify the software--that they do not own--to accommodate your needs.
